Jimmy Bower is an American Sludge/Heavy Metal guitarist and drummer who has played with numerous underground bands, most notably Eyehategod, Crowbar, Down, The Mystick Krewe of Clearlight, Debris Inc. and Superjoint Ritual.
Jimmy Bower is known in some circles as the "Godfather of Southern Metal" for his involvement in the New Orleans Metal and Hardcore scene, as well as being a founding member of legendary Sludgecore band Eyehategod, which is an obvious influence on many of the Hardcore and Heavy Metal bands that later emerged from the South, including Acid Bath, Soilent Green, and Abandoned at Birth. Jimmy is also a founding member of Down and Superjoint Ritual, along with former Pantera vocalist Philip Anselmo. While he started off drumming in the 80's New Orleans hardcore band Shell Shock, Jimmy has also been a large part in the histories of bands such as Corrosion of Conformity and Crowbar as a touring drummer.
Down's drummer Jimmy Bower shoots the shit with former CleveRock staffer Steve Barrish to discuss the birth and development of his all-star band, his roots in New Orleans, his work with other projects, (eyehategod, Crowbar, etc.) and reminisces about the day when it was cool for band's to have one word names.

Meiko's Autobiography:
"I grew up in Roberta, Georgia (pop. 808)...
I'd have to say my biggest influence is my dad. He played guitar and sang for me ever since I was a baby. His music was the only thing I ever listened to as a kid.
And...Whoever bought me that Mariah Carey tape "Emotions" did me a huge favor... I would practice singing to her every day. I owe my lucky ear to my dad and that tape.
The first time I sang in public was at an all black Southern Baptist church on Christmas eve when I was 8. For some reason I decided to sing "White Christmas..." I just recently realized the humor in that -- but luckily at the time, everyone thought it was cute...
Soon after, I started singing in talent shows and would do the National Anthem for opening day of little league baseball.
I would always act like i could play my dads Gibson -- 'till he was getting pissed that I kept knocking it around...So he bought me my very own guitar when I was 13. As soon as i learned a new chord -- i wrote a new song...And thats pretty much how it goes."
Up-and-coming, star in the making, Meiko takes a seat in The House of Blues resteraunt after her set opening for fellow rising star Brett Dennen to talk to CleveRock Music Portal about her music background, life on the road for the first time, the surprising ease of marketing oneself without the backing of a major label, the MySpace revolution, getting her song "Reasons To Love You" on the smash hit television show 'Grey's Anatomy,' why her gangsta'-thug folk-singin' self earned a parental advisory label, and what she's going to do with her money when she inks a record deal.

Beatallica is a parodic band that plays music made from combinations of songs of The Beatles and Metallica. A Beatallica song is typically a blend of a Beatles song and a Metallica song with a related title (e.g. "The Thing That Should Not Let It Be," combining The Beatles' "Let It Be" and Metallica's "The Thing That Should Not Be" or "And Justice for All My Loving" combining Metallica's "And Justice for All" and the Beatles' "All My Loving"), though sometimes just a Beatles song will be used as a basis with modified lyrics. The lyrics slip back and forth between the two songs—occasionally neither in lieu of original lyrics comically referencing Metallica, heavy metal music or the heavy metal community—while the scansion and melody are usually Beatles-based, the music is played metal style with some Metallica riffs and solos thrown in.
One of the more unique bands to perform at Summerfest 2005, Beatallica, takes some time to talk to us backstage before their set. Beatallica is all about playing Beatles songs Metallica style. The boys talk about how the concept came about, their way of marketing themselves, and who really killed John Lennon.
