Foo Fighters guitarist Chris Shiflett brings his band – Chris Shiflett & The Dead Peasants to Cleveland’s Grog Shop on August 5th on their tour to support their self-titled debut album. Shiflett is joined by Jeff Gross (bass), Eric Skodis (drums), Derek Silverman (keyboards), and Marty Rifkin (pedal steel). The album - borne out of Shiflett's love for classic country artists (Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings), rockabilly (Gene Vincent, Eddie Cochran), and deep-rooted rock bands (The Rolling Stones, The Replacements) - highlights his talent and versatility not only as a skillful guitarist, but also as a songwriter. These nine infectious, Americana-laced rock songs are some of the best he's penned, from the chiming keys and buoyant, ringing guitars of "Get Along" to the pedal steel- and mandolin-lined heartache of "Bandaged," and from the spry, Old 97s-ian "Baby, Let It Out" to the rueful country swing of "Death March." You can check out the video for the album’s first single, “Get Along” below.
Opener Ari Shine is a Los Angeles based singer/songwriter with roots in both rock and roll and powerpop. His latest album 'Ghost Town Directory' was co-produced with Noah Shain (As Tall As Lions, The Secret Handshake) and is his most direct and realized work yet. It’s ten tracks offer a modern spin on the hooky yet gritty sound of Petty and Mellencamp while retaining a smattering of the Nick Lowe styled songcraft for which he has earned a worldwide following. At the forefront are tunes featuring what Americana UK called “bruised earnest romanticism and infectious good natured vibe”. Classic Rock Magazine noted his “wry turns of phrase” and “incredibly well-crafted vignettes”.
