The Wrong Stuff
Dear Lord, what is the world coming to? The New Kids on the Block are reuniting. I shit you not. New album. Fall tour. WTF? Yes, we all know they are out of money, but the question remains, is anybody going to give them more? “It was music that brought us back [together],” said Donnie Wahlberg, who for the last decade has followed his brother Mark into acting. “We really weren’t going to announce this yet, but a story leaked … and we said we better come out and let [the fans] know that it’s official.” For those of you who list countdowns under your MySpace hobbies, NKOTB will make their first comeback performance on The Today show on May 16th. Lord help us all. The Spice Girls reunion flopped and this one will flop even harder. It’s going to be fun to watch nonetheless.
Eleven Seven Recruits Sixx
Motley Crue bassist Nikki Sixx is now a suit, as he has been named president of Eleven Seven Records today. Sixx will oversee a roster that includes Buckcherry, Trapt, Drowning Pool, Marion Raven and up-and-coming rock outfit Chosen Son. "I've had enough success and enough misfires in a career that's lasted over 25 years that I can go back and draw on that experience, and I think that's helpful for the artists," Sixx says. "When I go into rehearsal rooms and meet with bands, they're genuinely excited to be with me because of what I've done as an artist, not because of anything else." Unfortunately, this does not mean that Motley Crue is done, or even on hiatus. They are hard at work on a new record that is expected this summer. Shit.
NIN Touring Lineup Announced
Nine Inch Nails 2008 touring lineup has been completed. Returning member Robin Finck and new addition Rich Fownes will join Trent Reznor, Alessandro Cortini and Josh Freese for a world tour beginning July in North America. Finck has served in numerous touring configurations of NIN, from tours supporting The Downward Spiral (1994-1997) to The Fragile (2000-2001). More recently, he played in Guns N Roses. Fownes has been performing with UNKLE, and has been a member of With Scissors and The Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster. Josh Freese, though best known as a studio musician, is also a full-blown and touring member of The Vandals and A Perfect Circle, and most recently finished recording with Billy Howerdel’s Ashes Divide. NIN’s tour includes a stop at Lollaplaooza on August 1st and a gig in Cleveland on August 22nd.
Bono assassinated?
Was Bono assassinated? No, not U2’s Bono. He’s alive and well and busy selling his soul to Live Nation. Sonny Bono on the other hand, well, that seems to be the word from the tabloids, ASSASINATED. An ever reliable tabloid, America’s Globe, alleges that Sonny was about to expose an international drug and weapons ring. Former FBI agent Ted Gunderson tells the publication, “It’s nonsense for anyone to now try to suggest that Bono died after crashing into a tree. Instead, there’s powerful proof he was assassinated.” Ummm…
Lollapalooza
If you are planning on making the trip to Chicago for Lollapalooza this year, get ready to piss your pants. Although the lineup won’t be posted until Monday, CleveRock can report that the following artists are already confirmed: Radiohead, (Sunday night headliner) Rage Against the Machine, (Saturday Night Headliner) Nine Inch Nails, (Friday Night Headliner) Wilco, Kanye West, Akron’s own The Black Keys, John Butler Trio, The Raconteurs, Dierks Bentley, and Bloc Party. Although the official lineup has not been announced yet, tickets are already available for purchase and selling like hotcakes
