The Best Worst Tour Ever
Be thankful there is one tour skipping over Cleveland this summer. I don’t know who thought this would be a good idea, but somebody has decided to put together a concert bill that includes The Human League, Belinda Carlisle, ABC, Naked Eyes, and Flock of Seagulls. No, I’m not kidding. This is quite possibly worse than a 1998 bill that also included The Human League along with Howard Jones and headliner Boy George and Culture Club. The trek is dubbed The Regeneration Tours. Because it is certain to regenerate these bands careers. I’m hoping for a new Flock of Seagulls LP in time for the holidays.
Today’s show announcements:
6/17 Jazz trumpeter Chris Botti, who regularly has made tour stops in Cleveland after making a splash opening for Josh Groban in 2005, will take the stage at Playhouse Square. Tickets are priced from $10-$40 and go on sale 4/18. Nyee Moses will open.
6/21 Peter Murphy comes to HOB for a night of new wave/alternative music. Tickets are priced at $35 for reserved balcony seating and $25 for general admission, standing room only floor tix. Ducats go on sale this Friday, 4/11.
6/25 Brian Vander Ark, former frontman for The Verve Pipe has been added as the opener for Edwin McCain at House of Blues. Tickets are on sale now. Check out our pics of Vander Ark from his recent visit to Cleveland right here.
7/8 Less Thank Jake/Goldfinger/Big D and the Kids Table/Suburban Legends are coming to Cleveland for a skantacular evening. The balcony is closed for this show, and floor tix (general admission, standing room only) are priced at $23.50. Tickets go on sale this Friday, 4/11. Less Than Jake sent out a press release earlier this year encouraging fans to celebrate CINCO DE MUSTACHE- demanding all throw away their razors and clippers and let their facial hair grow. No alternate instructions were given for the ladies.
8/16 Dru Hill and Sisqo (the man who brought you “The Thong Song”) hit up Voinovich Park in Cleveland for what has to be a special event of some sort. We’ll keep you posted on details as soon as our investigation concludes.
