Pornography News

The Beachland Ballroom has released an extra 20 tickets for the previously SOLD OUT New Pornographers and Okkervil River show on 4/22!! This show has been sold out for a good long time now so these last minute openings are a rarity, and something you should jump on asap if you don’t already have tickets. There’s a two ticket per person limit and they are $30 each. You can reserved your tix by calling the Beachland with your credit card # at 216.383.1124 until 6pm tonight, or stop in at the venue in person. You can try calling starting tomorrow at 11:00 but the chances of tix still being available are very, very slim. Get on the ball if you want in on this. Speaking of New Pornographers, Billboard reports today that principal member Carl Newman plans to record a solo album following the band’s current tour, and could possibly release it as early as this fall. As far as what differentiates a solo song from a New Pornographers' song, that answer isn't clear-cut. "That's the confusing part," Newman says. "In a lot of ways they're similar, but in a lot of obvious ways, they're not similar. The Pornographers have all of these different people in the band and different voices, which makes a big difference. On my own records, I'm kind of left to my own devices. That can be both good and bad.”

Radiohead Not Sold Out

In very surprising news, Radiohead’s show at Blossom Music Center scheduled for August 4th did not immediately sell out this weekend. The band’s last two times through town saw tickets evaporate in minutes, and this show is coming after a five year absence. Very peculiar indeed. The good news is that if you forgot to get your tickets, you still have a chance. What are you waiting for? Go!

MMJ On SNL

CleveRock favorites My Morning Jacket will make its "Saturday Night Live" debut when it serves as the musical guest on the May 10 taping of the NBC show. The group will introduce material from its upcoming album, ‘Evil Urges,’ due June 10 via ATO. Hurray!

Metallica to headline 2008 Ozzfest. All two of them.

Metallica is “rumored” to be headlining 2008’s Ozzfest. The bad news: it’s only being held in Texas this year. Two separate two day affairs, one night headlined by Metallica, the other night headlined by Ozzy. One city will be Dallas. The other city has not yet been finalized. (Presumably Houston) This just goes to show how bad the concert economy is getting when a powerhouse tour like Ozzfest can’t even survive on the road anymore. Either that or it shows how shitty Ozzfest has become. Or perhaps both are true.

Winehouse Album Delayed

Gigwise.com reports that Amy Winehouse’s new album may be delayed until 2009. This isn’t long enough.

OOOPS! She Did It Again.

Brittany Spears caused a three car accident this weekend. Oh wait, nobody cares.

Today's Show Announcements Are Brought To You By Nobody.

Natasha Bedingfield with special guests The Veronicas and local gal Kate Voegele come to House of Blues on June 2nd for the Crazy Bitches tour. Ok, it’s not really called that. Bedingfield is best known for the most overplayed song on top 40 radio, “Unwritten,” The Veronica’s are hot, and it’s always good to support your local talent. It might be worth the $20 to check out. Especially if you’re female. Tix go on sale 4/18.

Gregg Alllman’s (of the Allman Brothers) son Devon Allman and his band Honeytribe come to House of Blues’ intimate Cambridge room for a show on June 14th. Think of them kind of like the Allman Brothers, except they suck. Tickets are priced at 10 bucks and go on sale 4/18.

Cleveland natives Chimaira share opening duties with Soilent Green for headliner Dethlok at HOB on June 19th. Tix are priced at $24.50 and go on sale 4/18.

Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush comes to town on July 15th. Tix go on sale 4/18 and are priced at $16.

Columbus, Ohio’s pride and joy, O.A.R. (all you O.A.R. loyalist dickheads, please refrain from emailing me screaming that they are originally from Rockville, MD) stop at the venue formerly known as Tower City Amphitheater (aka Time Warner Cable Amphitheater) with special guest Ozomatli. We’ve once again beat the venue and Ticketmaster to the punch on getting the news out on this show, but we’ll have more information for you as it becomes available. For the second consecutive year, O.A.R. will not be holding their Feeling Better Than Everfine festival. We’ll get in touch with the folks at Everfine and see what’s up. Angelina or J. Lo?
