STEVEN TYLER IMPERSONATED, UNIVERSAL TO CREATE VIDEO SITE, TICKETS ON SALE THIS WEEKEND By Joel Published: September 25, 2008 PrintEmail
HELLO, MY NAME IS STEVEN TYLER.
Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler is suing unknown bloggers for impersonating him on the web. The bloggers crossed the line not by discussing music related issues while pretending to be Tyler, but going into intimate details about his life, including the death of his mother. "The impersonated statements relating to (Tyler's) mother are perhaps most hurtful given that she recently passed away," the lawsuit stated. Tyler's lawsuit accuses the bloggers of public disclosure of private facts, making false statements and misappropriation of likeness. It also seeks an injunction to have the defendants stop impersonating him online or elsewhere.
UNIVERSAL TUBE
Universal Music Group is planning on launching its own video portal. In addition to streaming music videos at a higher quality than is available on YouTube and other video sharing sites, UMG also plans on offering artist related content including editorials, interviews, behind the scenes peeks, and live footage. Although the venture will be owned by Universal, the record giant has not ruled out licensing content from other labels for the portal. UMG already has their own channel on YouTube, which has seen over 2.6 billion video streams in the past year.
