Noah Kahan concert review | Blossom Music Center | Cuyahoga Falls, OH | 05.28.2024

Reading Time: 3 mins read

The summer season at Blossom Music Center in Cuyahoga Falls kicked off in true Blossom fashion – with huge traffic delays, a crowded parking lot, and a lawn packed to the brim with concert-goers. But that seems to be what is happening at every venue that singer-songwriter Noah Kahan has been traveling to these days. His “We’ll All Be Here Forever” Tour has been selling out arenas across North America since its start in Vancouver in March.

Ask any concertgoer at Kahan’s show and the traffic, lines, and running down the lawn for the best possible spot (a video that the singer himself posted on social media), and it’s all worth it to hear the 27-year-old singer perform live. Kahan blew up on social media in 2020 when his song “Stick Season” went viral on TikTok, but this was one viral sensation that did not fade. Kahan captivates audiences with his lyrics, and they’ve been sure not to leave his side since.

The tour follows the release of ‘Stick Season (Forever),’ which was released in late January 2024. The album is an extension of his ‘Stick Season’ released in 2022, featuring new tracks like “Forever” and the duet features Kahan released with artists like Post Malone, Brandi Carlile, and Hozier, among others.

Kahan’s last appearance in Cleveland was last summer, though it looked rather different then. Kahan played a sold-out show to a 5,000-person crowd at Jacobs Pavilion at Nautica last June and, this time, was welcomed back to a sold-out crowd of 23,000 at Blossom Music Center. It’s clear this audience wasn’t bandwagon fans either, but rather fans that are fully committed to Kahan’s music based on the sheer volume that they sang every song.

The show started with yet another song of Kahan’s that went viral ahead of its official release: “Dial Drunk,” off of the second reissue of ‘Stick Season’ titled ‘Stick Season (We’ll All Be Here Forever).’ One might think two reissues of an album is too much, but fans have obsessed over every piece of new songwriting from Kahan, even if the Stick Season era were to continue forever.

Of course, while Stick Season launched Kahan further into the spotlight, it wasn’t his first album by any stretch, and he made sure to pay tribute to the music that started his career. On a stage set to look like his mom’s living room where he grew up (he joked the only thing missing was the childhood trauma), he performed an acoustic version of “Godlight” off of his 2021 album ‘I Was / I Am.’ Later on in the set, he performed “Mess” off of his 2019 album ‘Busyhead’.

A thread that has reigned true throughout Kahan’s career as an artist is an emphasis on feelings of depression and anxiety in his songs. Kahan has been open online about his struggles with his mental health and isn’t ashamed to highlight these struggles in his songs, which it is clear that so many fans relate to this.

Kahan has also taken action by starting The Busyhead Project, a partnership with The Vermont Community Foundation, to provide resources to organizations committed to meeting the needs of marginalized communities. At his shows, The Busyhead Project sets up a Community Wall where fans can share positive messages and also donate to the cause.

Hearing songs from all three of Kahan’s major albums, it is clear that the songwriter isn’t just an artist who has improved over time. He has been this good since day one. Kahan is a classic example of an artist that it was only a matter of time before the spotlight caught him, and it is clear that light will not be fading any time soon.
