Luke Bryan Concert Review | Blossom Music Center (07.12.24)

Reading Time: 4 mins read

Arriving early to Blossom Music Center is always a good idea, especially when Luke Bryan is performing. It took an hour and a half of slow-moving traffic, lined with cars, trucks, and several limos, to reach the “Sold Out” sign at the Blossom entrance. Everyone was patient and in the party spirit, anticipating getting together to hear great music from one of their favorite country artists. Cleveland is a regular tour stop for Luke Bryan’s concerts, thanks in no small part to his strong local fan base and consistently sold-out shows.

The warm, balmy weather added to the excitement as fans donned their cowboy boots and hats and scurried in a rhythmic stampede to find the best spot on the lawn.

Bryan’s 2007 debut album, ‘I’ll Stay Me,’ launched him into the spotlight. Since then, he has earned a plethora of awards, including several Billboard Music Awards, Academy of Country Music Awards, and Country Music Association Awards. With his energetic shows and charismatic personality, it’s no surprise that he has also been named Entertainer of the Year several times by both the CMA and AMC.”

Luke’s concerts typically feature creative lighting with large multi-level video screens. He works the stage from end to end as he moves around to connect with the audience visually. A short catwalk emerged from center stage that was elevated so fans had a clear view of him from anywhere in the pavilion.

The stage setup was complex, with multiple arrays of floodlights, spotlights, and laser lights. The laser lights created pinpoint rays, mostly aimed above the crowd. The lighting focused on Bryan in natural tones, while the band behind him was a mix of natural and theme-colored lighting.

Bright floodlights, positioned well above the stage, aimed out towards the audience to illuminate them during sing-alongs, such as Neil Diamond’s cover of “Sweet Caroline” (Ba Ba Ba), certainly put everyone in a good mood, singing in unison. Interestingly, Caroline is also his wife’s name.

Luke started the high-spirited evening off with “That’s My Kind of Night,” “Rain is a Good Thing,” and “Move.” Despite the packed crowd, leaving little room for movement, the fun-loving audience seemed to enjoy every minute. Most of the crowd in the pavilion stood at the beginning of the show and were still standing at the end. This enthusiasm extended to the grass, as Blossom had excellent sound to cover the grounds.

Luke’s cover of Jordan Davis’ “Buy Dirt” is always an uplifting fan favorite, and Bryan contributed to the song’s country success by providing vocals on the track. The song evokes a warm message of finding contentment and joy in the simple things that life has to offer, like listening to great music under the stars.life’s simple things

Luke sang “Drink a Beer,” a heartfelt tribute to his two late siblings. The song, written by Chris Stapleton, holds special meaning for Bryan and now for his fans. They know how important this song is to him and are engaged with him during his tribute.

Luke got the crowd pumped up again with the Toby Keith cover “Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue (The Angry American). Many fans, who undoubtedly admired Toby Keith, found this song bittersweet. Perhaps it was a way to mourn the loss of such a great country artist and celebrate his legacy by singing the music together.

Luke’s fans always look forward to his hits. “Play It Again,” “Crash My Party,” and “Huntin’, Fishin,’ and Lovin’ Every Day.” They know when he sings “I Don’t Want This Night To End” that the concert is winding down…..except for the ENCORE!!!! “Country Girl (Shake It for Me),” which closed the show and another memorable night for his loyal fans.

The evening featured performances by Alana Springsteen, Dillon Carmichael, and DJ Rock and Vincent Mason ensuring a well-orchestrated and entertaining show.
