Cory Chisel Makes New Believers With ‘Old Believers’

How does an artist follow up a critically acclaimed major label debut album? Easy…make the next one even better!

That’s what Cory Chisel believes he has done with his sophomore effort, ‘Old Believers’ (06.26.12; Readymade Records). The album includes the lead single, “I’ve Been Accused” as well as “Times Won’t Change.”

Prior to the record’s release, Cory had some pretty high expectations to live up to following his 2009 debut. He was named one of Rolling Stone’s “Best New Artists” and has played some of the biggest festivals in the country and around the world, including Bonnaroo, Glastonbury, and Newport Folk Festival.

And now, with ‘Old Believers,’ produced by Brendan Benson (who serves as the guitarist for the Jack White-fronted band, The Raconteurs, in addition to having a most impressive resume of production credits), Cory has once again garnered acclaim from the likes of Rolling Stone, Esquire, and Nylon Magazine. Chisel and Benson are close on both a personal and professional level, and much of the high quality music is a direct reflection of their relationship. With a raw, creative, and a truly unique soulful sound, Cory’s music continues to turn heads of music executives, critics, and of course, fans.

The date is one of many on their run on the road with the alt-country rock band, before a coveted spot opening a slew of Western US dates for Norah Jones.

Chisel recently appeared on Late Night with David Letterman on Tuesday night (07.10.12), he has a brand new album with two solid singles, and months of tour dates ahead through the summer and beyond.

No sophomore slump for Cory…in fact, there may be even higher expectations in the future following a pair of critically-approved albums to begin his major label career. ‘Old Believers’ is sure to make a new believer out of you.
