Harry Styles

Joel Voorman

Harry Styles’ musical career began in 2010 as a solo contestant on the British music competition series The X Factor. Following his elimination early on, he was brought back to join the boy band One Direction, which went on to become one of the best-selling boy bands of all time.

Styles released his self-titled debut solo album through Columbia Records in 2017. It debuted at number one in the UK and the US, and became one of the world’s top-ten best-selling albums of the year. Its lead single, “Sign of the Times”, topped the UK Singles Chart. He made his acting debut in Christopher Nolan’s 2017 war film Dunkirk. Styles’ second album, Fine Line (2019), debuted atop the US Billboard 200 with the biggest first-week sales by an English male artist in history, and was listed among Rolling Stone’s “500 Greatest Albums of All Time” in 2020. Its fourth single, “Watermelon Sugar”, topped the US Billboard Hot 100.

Throughout his career, Styles has earned several accolades, including a Brit Award, a Grammy Award, and an American Music Award. Aside from music, he is also known for his flamboyant fashion, and is the first man to appear solo on the cover of Vogue magazine.

Opening Act Jenny Lewis, former frontwoman for Rilo Kiley, is finally getting a chance to tour her 2019 release, ‘On the Line.‘ The album has contributions from Beck, Ringo Starr, Ryan Adams, Don Was, Benmont Tench, Jason Falkner, and Jim Keltner.

In a year-end essay for Slate, Ann Powers cited On the Line as one of her favorite albums from 2019 and proof that the format is not dead but rather undergoing a “metamorphosis”. She added that concept albums had reemerged through the culturally-relevant autobiographical narratives of artists such as Lewis, who “confronted the ghost of her mother by invoking the musical touchstones they had shared in the fearless On the Line”.

Lewis gained prominence in the 1980s as a child actress, appearing in the films Troop Beverly Hills (1989) and The Wizard (1989) and the television series Brooklyn Bridge (1991–93). In the mid-1990s, Lewis semi-retired from acting to focus on her musical career, and formed Rilo Kiley in 1998 with fellow former child actor Blake Sennett. Rilo Kiley released four albums before they disbanded in 2014.

In addition to Rilo Kiley and her solo career, Lewis has been a member of the Postal Service, Jenny & Johnny and Nice As Fuck.

Lewis has also guested on other notable artist albums, ranging from Bright Eyes to Elvis Costello; Brandon Flowers to Paul Shaffer.
