It’s official, this preview writer is old! Less Than Jake is celebrating the 25th anniversary of ‘Hello Rockview,’ their third studio album with a tour that stops at Cleveland, OH’s House of Blues on Tuesday, July 11!
I was LITERALLY a kid on Christmas, opening this album (a gift from my favorite sister), and I immediately turned up track #7, “History of a Boring Town,” a staple on the local alt-rock FM station.
The album was a critical and commercial success, reaching #39 on the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart and #100 on the Billboard 200 chart. It was certified gold by the RIAA in 2001.
The album spawned two singles, “History of a Boring Town” and “All My Best Friends Are Metalheads”. Both singles were successful on the Modern Rock Tracks chart, peaking at #39 and #23, respectively.
‘Hello Rockview’ is considered to be one of Less Than Jake’s best albums and is a staple in the ska punk genre. It has been praised for its catchy melodies, energetic instrumentals, and clever lyrics.
The album is a must-have for fans of ska punk and is a great introduction to the band for those who are new to their music.
Like everyone else who picked up that album, I caught LTJ on Warped Tour during my young adult life and skanked the afternoon away to my favorite tracks.
Let’s go, fellow 40-year-olds! Can’t wait to relive this album in all of its glory!
