Melanie Martinez

Melanie Martinez is an American singer, songwriter, actress, and director. She rose to fame in 2012 after appearing on season 3 of the American television talent show The Voice. Following the show, she was signed to Atlantic Records and released her debut single “Dollhouse”, followed by her debut extended play of the same name (2014).

Martinez’s music is known for its dark and dreamy aesthetic, as well as its exploration of themes such as childhood trauma, bullying, and female empowerment. She has been praised for her songwriting, her vocal range, and her visual storytelling.

In 2015, Martinez released her debut studio album, ‘Cry Baby.’ The album was a critical and commercial success, reaching number 6 on the Billboard 200 chart. It was certified double platinum.

In 2019, Martinez released her second studio album, ‘K-12.’ The album was accompanied by a feature-length film of the same name, which Martinez wrote and directed. Melanie is currently on the road in support of her 2023 album, ‘Portals.’ The album is Martinez’s first album after she took a two-year hiatus from releasing music. With her return, she introduced a new image and sported a new creature-like alter-ego. In support of the album, Martinez embarked on the Portals Tour in May 2023.

The album was preceded with the two singles “Death” and “Void” which reached number 95 and 61 on the Billboard Hot 100 marking her first original appearances on the chart. The album received generally positive reviews from music critics with praise given to Martinez’s mature growth in lyrics and themes. The album also debuted at number two on the US Billboard 200
