This preview writer’s all-time favorite band, Dave Matthews Band, and Northeast Ohio’s pride and joy, The Black Keys will headline Pilgrimage Music Festival in Franklin, Tennessee (a hop/skip/jump from Nashville)!
While DMB is on the road doing an extensive tour and can be found throughout the country, this is a rare 2021 appearance for The Black Keys. And, for the those unfamiliar with this duo (what rock do you live under?), they are known to kick it up a notch at festivals.
Also just a few notches down on the bill are Black Pumas, Amos Lee, and Maren Morris. All three are worthy of a headlining spot if not on the same festival as Pilgrimage’s two stars!
Don’t sleep on Tanya Tucker, Valerie June, or alt-rock veterans Better Than Ezra, either!
The festival also features the American Music Triangle Experience, described on the festival website as:
At the Americana Music Triangle Experience we’ve invited the South’s most historic music cities to gather under the big top to tell amazing stories of their formative music heritage. Under a backdrop created by American Pickers and Antique Archaeology there are relics, church pews, a historic photo wall, exhibits, farm tables and more depicting the living history of American Music and one-of-a-kind stops along the Gold Record Road. We hope to inspire fans to plan road trips of their own to visit each of our partner cities.
The festival also boasts a “Makers Village,” Craft Beer Hall, and Art Barn.
Pack up the car, kids. We’re going to Franklin!
