The Avett Brothers (Columbus)

Joel Voorman

**SOLD OUT**

Heck. Yes. Live music is back at Express Live! in Columbus. Kicking off the return of concerts at the fan-favorite venue is none other than one of this preview writer’s all time favorite acts, The Avett Brothers!

Fresh off of a three night stint at The Bonnaroo farm and one night ahead of their livestream at the sold-out Floyd Fest, there is no better choice than Scott, Seth & CO. as the first act to take the stage in more than 16 months. Want proof? The show sold out in just a few short days.

The Avett Brother never got to complete their full tour in support of their 2019 release, ‘Closer Than Together,’ which peaked at No. 2 on the US Folk charts. The album features stand-out tracks “Tell the Truth,” “High Steppin’,” and “Bang Bang.”

During the pandemic, Avett Brothers released a special treat, ‘The Third Gleam’ EP in August of 2020, a year where fans were desperate for new music.

The Avett Brothers sell-out mid-sized to ginormous venues all across the country with minimal help from mainstream media nor radio airplay.

The concord natives released the Judd Apatow directed film, May It Last: A Portrait of The Avett Brothers, giving fans an unprecedented look behind the scenes of recording their album ‘True Sadness’ (2016) with famed producer Rick Rubin.

Standout tracks from the band’s storied catalog include “Swept Away,” I and Love and You,” “Kick Drum Heart,” “Ain’t No Man,” “Live and Die,” Down with the Shine,” “Laundry Room,” … hell, too many others to name!
