The Black Keys

Joel Voorman

Akron, Ohio natives The Black Keys are coming home! Their show at Blossom Music Center is just a stone’s throw from their native-town.

The duo of Dan Auerbach and Patric Carney are on the road in support of their 2022 release, ‘Dropout Boogie.’ Led by the singles “Wild Child” and “It Ain’t Over,” ‘Dropout Boogie’ features collaborations with Reigning Sound’s Greg Cartwright, Billy F Gibbons (ZZ Top), and Angelo Petraglia (Kings of Leon) and arrives one day before the twentieth anniversary of The Black Keys’ first LP, ‘The Big Come Up.’ The new album captures a number of first takes that hark back to the stripped-down blues rock of their early days making music together in Akron, Ohio basements.

Called “rock royalty” by the Associated Press, The Black Keys are singer/guitarist Dan Auerbach and drummer Patrick Carney. Last year, the duo received its fourteenth Grammy nomination, this time for Best Contemporary Blues Album for Delta Kream. The album was the band’s fifth consecutive top 10 debut on The Billboard 200. Most recently, The band, which has released eleven studio albums and won four Grammy Awards, among other honors, regularly sells out arena tours internationally.

Get your ass in your seat early to see direct support act, Band of Horses. Never seen them before? That is MISSING OUT. BIG time! The Ben Bridwell led group is on tour in support of their recent release, ‘Things Are Great,’ which dropped earlier this year. The new record is shaping up to be one of their finest releases to date. With songs including “Lights,” “In Need of Repair” and “Crutch” (the latter reached #1 on the AAA radio chart, marking the first chart topper for the band), their sixth studio album and first record in more than five years shows a band in their prime. Sonically, the album is a return to their earlier work and the kind of raw ethos that lies at the heart of Band of Horses.

The group was nominated for a Grammy in 2011 for their album, ‘Infinite Arms.’
