LaureLive Lineup: 8 Hours Ahead of Schedule

Welp, here it is. LaureLive 2019 lineup is officially unleashed Festival organizers, who, at the time of this posting have yet to publish anything on their own social media accounts and promised announcements on CBS Radio stations at 8:00 AM, have jumped the gun and posted the lineup to their website.

The two-day festival, hosted at Laurel School’s Butler Campus, will be headlined by Hozier (Saturday, June 8) and Shery Crow (Sunday, June 9).

Saturday’s lineup also includes:

  • Dirty Heads
  • Moon Taxi
  • Misterwives
  • Coin
  • Dennis Lloyd
  • Alec Benjamin
  • The Blue Stones
  • Motopony
  • The Suitcase Junket
  • Northern National
  • The Vindys
  • Rebounder
  • Julia Thompson
  • DJ Eicher
  • The Dead Licks

Sunday’s lineup features:

  • Trombone Shorty
  • Lake Street Dive
  • Rodrigo Y Gabriela
  • Red Sun Rising
  • Castlecomer
  • Emily Hackett
  • Caroline Jones
  • Doc Robinson
  • Clubhouse
  • The Furies
  • Front Porch Lights
  • Ashley Fulton
  • The Shootouts

The lineup is quite intriguing, to say the least. CleveRock editorial staff writers have differing thoughts on this year’s lineup (but we’ll dive into that deeper next week).

LaureLive is presented by Elevation Group. [READ OUR INTERVIEW WITH PRESIDENT DENNY YOUNG FROM 2016] It is worth noting that three of the four artists managed by Elevation made the bill: Akron natives Red Sun Rising, The Blue Stones, and Castlecomer. (It should be worth noting that all three acts are a natural fit for LaurelLive.)

In a recent Facebook post, festival organizers stated, “We wanted to secure a headline artist that is transforming music today in a way that many others are not. A real pioneer for this generation.”

This refers to Hozier, of course.  (Sheryl Crow, while an incredibly talented artist, is neither ‘transforming music’ nor a pioneer.) Mission accomplished.

The statement continued:  “We wanted a strong female presence on stage in 2019 and secured what we believe to be one of our country’s most iconic female musicians.”

There it is! Sheryl Crow. Hmmm… Not entirely sure about ‘most iconic’ but a solid choice at the very least.

What is a sure thing is that the goal to have a strong female presence has been met. In addition to Crow, the lineup features a handful of female solo artists as well as several others in bands

The statement concluded with, “Finally, we wanted Northeast Ohio and Cleveland well-represented. We will have more home grown talent than ever before. In between all of that, is a lineup of dynamic artists representing six countries and providing a level of performance that you have become accustomed to at LaureLive.”

From the press release, North East Ohio rooted acts include:

  • COIN – The drummer, Ryan Winnen, for this national band is from South Euclid.
  • Red Sun Rising – Three of the five members of RSR are from Akron and Cleveland.
  • The Vindys – Based in Youngstown.
  • Clubhouse – Keyboardist Michael Berthold is from Cleveland.
  • Julia Thompson – This blossoming Pop/EDM singer is a 2018 graduate of Independence High School.
  • JD Eicher – Based in Youngstown.
  • Doc Robinson – The lead singer Jonathan Elliott is from Cleveland.
  • Front Porch Lights – A Cleveland-based band.
  • Ashley Fulton – A member of Hawken’s Class of 2019.
  • The Shootouts – Based in Akron.

Goals met. Promises kept. Strongest lineup? Ehhhh…that’s debatable. But hey, music taste is subjective. To each his/her own.
