Big Time Rush concert review | Blossom Music Center | Cuyahoga Falls, OH | 07.17.23

The boys are back in town … Again! Why? Because these gentlemen can’t get enough of Ohio! On this Monday Summer’s eve (07.17.2023) at Blossom Music Center, the four former Nickelodeon stars make up the group Big Time Rush. The boys got back together for their first reunion tour last year and had such a good time hanging out together that they decided to do it again this year!

For those not in the loop, the boys are not still touring with the same setlist of old songs. They actually just released an album titled ‘Another Life’, which is exactly what they are doing with the band and this tour by showcasing how much they’ve grown physically and sonically.

They began the show by ascending from a three-tier geometrical platform in the middle of the stage in a diamond configuration with Logan Henderson in the front, Kendall Schimdt to his left, James Maslow slightly behind, and Carlos Penavega to the right. Colorful lights adorned the platform as the beat of “Can’t Get enough” pumped in.

The guys spent the first act of the show highlighting their new album and wearing matching white jackets with patches from varying states. The gents showcased in sync choreography while smiling and blowing kisses to adoring fans.  After showing off their classic boyband skills with their new songs, they took their shot at some acoustic versions of some songs on the new album, allowing each member to shine vocally, and boy, did they! Throughout the performance, it was clear why the quartet is still riding the success days, long after their Nickelodeon Days.

The second act came with a wardrobe change that was more casual and definitely displayed each one of the boys’ personalities. It wouldn’t be a BTR show with some crowd interaction, and just like in every show each guy picked one female in the audience to serenade with their Nickelodeon Hit “Worldwide.” The lucky ladies chosen got to sit on the aforementioned platform alongside the guy that chose them and get to experience their own personal concert on stage.

After a brief interlude to cool down and introduce the backing band, it was halfway through the show which meant time for “Halfway There,” and also the time members in the audience have all been waiting for: Nickelodeon hit after Nickelodeon hit. The dance party commenced as “Confetti Falling” blasted through the pavilion. Confetti made its way into the air, falling ever so gracefully in the pink lights. The guys couldn’t have ended the show with anything other than the ICONIC “Oh..Oh..Oh..Oh” which signifies the beginning of the band and the reason everyone gathered Monday night BIG TIME RUSH.

The Guys couldn’t have performed such a wonderful show without aid from their openers. The first slated opener was Jax, who despite being ill came out to perform one song and warm up the crowd. The second opener MAX who also has Nickelodeon ties gave a performance of a lifetime dancing and jumping around the stage, in a spiffy all-pink outfit.
