Concert Review: Keith Urban| Blossom Music Center | 06.29.2025

Reading Time: 4 mins read

It was a beautiful June summer night at Northeast Ohio’s prized amphitheater, Blossom Music Center! (Parking disaster capital of the world!)

Fans and critics alike know the truth about country megastar Keith Urban—his energy is fierce! When it comes to the guitar, well… this is his playground. He’s still working that untouchable formula to perfection, and the crowd ate it up. It doesn’t matter what genre he’s playing; fans are witnessing something truly special. To his credit, Keith has four Grammys, 12 CMA awards, two Entertainer of the Year awards, 15 Academy of Country Music Awards, and 16 number-one songs.

The moment the curtain dropped, smoke billowed across the stage, and the audience exploded, standing up and cheering. Then—without missing a beat—the band launched into “Straight Line,” igniting the humid and steamy night with high energy. He followed up with “Where the Blacktop Ends,” and “Long Hot Summer” an ode to the recent weather shift in the region.

Urban performed many other fan favorites: “Blue Ain’t Your Color,” “Somewhere in My Car,” “Days Go By,” and “Messed Up As Me.” with the audience standing, laughing, and dancing for the entire show. His tourmates accompanied his signature sound and matched his energy. Natalie Stovall’s fiddle playing on ‘’Til Summer Comes Around” was strikingly precise, adding a rich, fun, and soulful layer to the performance. But it was her vocals that truly excelled—she moved effortlessly through the song “The Fighter” moodier moments, and then soared through the crescendos with a powerful rise.

Anyone who has ever been to one of Urban’s shows knows that he hangs out with you. He makes every section of the pavilion his own! He’ll hand out high-fives, and he often stops for a full-blown conversation. At this concert, he paused to chat with a fan who brought his wife to see him for the first time—and sealed her special moment to give a long sweet hug.

Urban left the main stage, guitar in hand, and walked to a secondary stage located between the rear of the pavilion and the lawn-goers, all while talking with and making contact with fans on the way, followed by security and videographers capturing the moment on the giant screens for all of the sold-out crowd to see. From that stage, he performed the Chappell Roan’s “Pink Pony Club” and “You’ll Think of Me” off of his 2002 album, ‘Golden Road.’

The sound quality in the pavilion was impressively crisp and powerful (this reviewer opting for ear protection), while the lawn offered a softer but equally clear and clean listening experience. The stage lighting was more understated than at many shows, with a large backlit screen behind the stage that subtly enhanced the performance without overpowering the music.

The visual design seemed to focus more on showcasing the musicians’ outstanding performances than on creating a flashy light show. Spotlights were used sparingly and primarily reserved for highlighting the principal performers, keeping the emphasis where it belonged—on the music.

Urban returned to the main stage and lit it up with four final tracks, including a high-octane cover of New Radicals’ “You Get What You Give.” With Urban — it felt less like a performance and more like an epic night out with Keith and his crew. He didn’t just play songs — he shared stories, his energy, and heart, leaving the crowd feeling like they’d just spent a wonderful evening with a friend…. Who just happens to be a world-class performer.

Tonight, he included three standout opening performers:

Karley Scott Collins, Alana Springsteen, and Chase Matthews. Any one of these three could return to the Blossom stage as a headliner in the not-so-distant future.
