Blossom Music Center hosts significant events every summer that many Northeast Ohio residents look forward to for months in advance. Closing this season at the Cuyahoga Falls venue, Austin Richard Post, better known to the world as Post Malone, gave the crowd a grande finale worthy of the ovations it received on the first day of October. With many arriving well before the gates opened, lines for the crashed pickup truck photo op—the aftermath of Post’s newest album cover- and the lawn and pavilion wound across the top of the hill. Bud Light was the drink of choice, both in the crowd and on stage, and it has been a staple for Post Malone since he inked a partnership in 2018.
The sold-out show on the F-1 Trillion Tour opened with Dan Spencer, followed by Muscadine Bloodline. Both set the country tone for the evening, garnering an attentive and invested audience. Once the sun had set and fog filled the stage, Post Malone unsurprisingly entered with a Bud Light in one hand and a cigarette in the other—the first of many throughout the performance.
Beginning with “Wrong Ones,” the night was filled with a mix of his newest album and country debut, ‘F-1 Trillion,‘ balanced with tracks from the rest of his impressive discography. Since his debut album, ‘Stoney’ (which remained on Billboard’s Hot 200 for 361 weeks — just shy of six years!), Post has been a sensation on the radio and music streaming services with three albums, including the aforementioned ‘F-1 Trillion’ charting at No. 1. Needless to say, every song was a sing-along.
Post quickly shedded the jersey and crocs he adorned in the beginning of the show, freeing him to bust out all of his best dance moves. From “Circles,” “Chemical,” and “Candy Paint” to “What Don’t Belong to Me,” “M-E-X-I-C-O,” and “Fallin’ in Love,” artists and fans alike shared in the special energy of the evening. At many moments, he drew attention to his touring band—The Fools for You—for their musical expertise.
“Stay” is one of Post’s most loved songs, so it was only fitting that he shared that with a fan. He brought a woman to the stage for a duet, and her talent took the audience aback. Being a solo attendee, the crowd had documentation of her moment covered with ease. They shared hugs, conversation, a beer, and music, the perfect example of the environment at Blossom that night.
“I Fall Apart” and “Better Now” followed with even more excitement (which I didn’t think was possible). After a fantastic live debut of “Dead at the Honky Tonk” and a vibrant performance of “Losers,” Post gave a shout-out to all the daughters and fathers in attendance, as he is a father himself. He dedicated “Yours” to them, a song that is a testament to the wonders of raising a little girl.
Post brought fans back to the beginning with “White Iverson,” which he released in 2015 through his SoundCloud account. Overnight, he shot to success with the song, which got him signed by Republic Records. Bouncing from that to his most recent releases truly gave scale to the star’s journey. “Ain’t How It Ends,” “Go To Hell,” and “I Had Some Help” segued to “Rockstar” and “Congratulations” for the ending everyone expected: nothing short of wildly terrific. The chants of “Posty” soon brought the singer back on stage for the encore of “Sunflower,” made in collaboration with Swae Lee. The song, created for Marvel’s Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse, was the first ever to reach double-diamond on the charts. It was not only iconic to witness live but also the perfect finish to the show and the Blossom season.
