Concert Review: Wiz Khalifa | Blossom Music Center | 07.15.2025

Reading Time: 4 mins read

The ambiance of Blossom Music Center is defined by three key traits:

1)weather

2)crowds

3)The scent of the great outdoors (occasionally laced with an odor of cannabis).

The Good Vibes Only Tour, however, was accompanied by an exceptional amount of smoke (herbal and otherwise), which plumed from under the pavilion and across the lawn. The good weather, combined with vibrantly friendly fans, created a perfect atmosphere for North Dakota-born, Pittsburgh-bred (but we won’t hold that against him), Wiz Khalifa.

The lawn and seats were adorned with giant inflatable joints—the staple merchandise item—which bobbed along to every beat. Many fans were also adorned with rolled joints, also bobbing along to every beat.

Wiz’s smooth flow and undeniable stage presence kept the crowd hyped from start to finish, proving once again why he remains a mainstay in hip-hop.

When Khalifa took the stage, more inflatable joints filled the air—part celebration, part promotion of his marijuana brand, Khalifa Kush. Wiz lit a real one himself, kicking things off with “What’s Hannin” off of his April 2025 release, ‘Kush + Orange Juice 2.’ It was evident from the opening number that this was going to be a night to remember.

Khalifa pivoted to an unreleased track, “How We Act,” which, according to the oft-correct Setlist.FM, was only the fifth time this one has been performed! He then wizzed (pun intended) right back into his new release with “5 Star.”

Many hits from Wiz that my generation grew up with blended together with recent releases and unreleased tracks, to create an experience of discovery within familiarity.  The hip-hop star zigged and zagged between his collection of hits, with a setlist spanning six albums, with covers and unreleased material in play, too.

Fans went wild for the classics, but nothing compared to the final quarter of the show. The intro to “Walking on a Dream” by Empire of the Sun gave way to “The Thrill,” eliciting dancing, singing, and, of course, clouds of smoke from the high AF faithful. (Security collectively turned a blind eye to the Devil’s lettuce. Although prohibited in the venue, it is LEGAL in Ohio now!)

A cover of “Or Nah” by Ty Dolla $ign, led to“We Dem Boyz”, whic saw Khalifa’s crew appearing onstage, making a high-profile entrance in a row as the song began, “rowing” their inflatable joints before tossing them to the crowd.

“Young Wild Free” garnered as much crowd participation as we had seen yet, with “See You Again” striking closer to home than most were prepared for. Throughout the entirety of the latter’s performance, photos and dates of life for the rappers of the past few decades who are now deceased were shown as an honorable ode to those who are no longer with us, but always remembered.

The song that catapulted Khalifa’s success catapulted him off the stage and sent the satisfied crowd home.“Black and Yellow,’ an ode to the Pittsburgh Steelers (a well-run football organization; something Northeast Ohio will never witness), closed the night with so much energy, an encore would’ve been redundant.

Direct support, Sean Paul delivered the next dance-inducing performance, opening with “Get Busy” and gracing fans with classics like “I’m Still In Love With You” and “Give It Up To Me”. More recent hits, Sean’s remix of Sia’s “Cheap Thrills”, as well as his features on Beyoncé’s “Bad Boy” and Clean Bandit’s “Rockabye”. Closing with “Temperature,” fans new and old were able to experience the breadth of Sean Paul’s discography.

Opening act, DaBaby kicked off his set with four dancers. He eventually traded the stage for a wandering journey to the lawn where he told the dancers to halt because of the presence of children.

What a hazy night, filled with joy, and nothing but good vibes.
