INTERVIEW: KASSI ASHTON

Country music’s newest breakout star has been steadily proving that there is no single blueprint for success in Nashville. With a powerhouse voice, fearless songwriting, and a style that blends traditional country roots with rock, soul, and pop influences, Kassi Ashton has carved out a lane entirely her own. The Missouri native first turned heads with her autobiographical debut single, “California, Missouri,” before building momentum with songs like “Dates in Pickup Trucks,” “Called Crazy,” and her acclaimed debut album, ‘Made from the Dirt.‘

Ashton is spending this summer introducing her music to thousands of new fans each night as the direct support act on Parker McCollum’s arena and amphitheater tour. Before taking the stage, she caught up with CleveRock to discuss what it’s like performing in front of massive crowds, how her career has evolved over the past few years, and why she’s never felt the need to fit neatly into country music’s traditional mold. She also shares what’s next as her star continues to rise.
