Summer concert season is officially upon us – and it has started with a bang! Fans flocked to the pavilion of Blossom Music Center for the first show of the 2023 summer season on Thursday, June 1st to see Louis Tomlinson grace the stage on his Faith in the Future World Tour, aptly named after his 2022 album of the same name. The set was new album-heavy, making up 13 of the 22 songs performed on this beautiful evening.
As a former member of One Direction, Tomlinson is no stranger to a packed house. What’s different? Tomlinson has ditched the boyband pop sound formula for an edgier. rock and roll sound.
Tomlinson strode onstage to a full pavilion of screaming fans, many of which have no doubt been loyal since his One Direction phase. Kicking things off the show with his lead track of ‘Faith in the Future‘ titled “The Greatest,'” fans cheered and danced in a sea of flashing lights. Other fan favorites of the latest album included “Written All Over Your Face,” “Lucky Again,” and “Holding On To Heartache” ,during which fans cascaded the room in a rainbow of color using colorful pieces of paper and their phone flashlights. Tomlinson even gave fans the live debut of “High in California” off the Bonus Edition of the album.

In addition to songs of his latest album, Tomlinson performed songs of his 2020 album ‘Walls’ which debuted at 8 on the Billboard 200 chart following its release. Fans danced along to “Copy of a Copy of a Copy,” “Walls,” and “We Made It.” For some, this was the first time hearing these songs live, and the excitement and energy showed in every word they sang along.
Of course, Tomlinson had to give nod to his boyband roots and perform a few One Direction songs. The room was definitely at its loudest when the opening chords to “Night Changes” rang out. The song from the 2014 album ‘Four’ has been made even more popular by TikTok, evoking watery eyes witht the nostalgia that it evoked.
Tomlinson’s versatality and ability to branch out beyond his boy band days proves he will always have a place on massive stagesl
